Uzbek President Notes Huge Opportunities for Deepening Strategic Partnership with Turkmenistan
On January 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Rashid Meredov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, who was in Tashkent as part of ECO Foreign Ministers Council events.
Minister Rashid Meredov conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov and the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, the Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov to the President of our country.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the aspects of practical implementation of high-level agreements, reached during the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan on July 14-15 and the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan on October 21-22, 2022.
The parties considered the issues of further deepening Uzbek-Turkmen relations of strategic partnership, enhancing cooperation in economy, trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, activation of interregional contacts, cultural and humanitarian exchange.
It was agreed to hold a number of joint events - regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, joint Commission on water issues, inter-ministerial political consultations, cultural and other events in the first quarter of this year.
There was also an exchange of views on current issues of the regional and international agenda. The leaders have also considered the schedule of forthcoming meetings.
