Uzbekistan, Italy expand pharmaceutical cooperation
On June 25, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Italian Embassy in Uzbekistan and Italy – Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce organized a business forum, via videoconference.
Prospects of cooperation between the two countries in pharmaceuticals were discussed at the event.
The forum was attended by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Adham Ikramov, President of Italy – Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, Luigi Iperti, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Italian Republic, Otabek Akbarov, Director of the Agency for Pharmaceutical Industry Development, Sardor Koriyev, representatives of regional departments of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and pharmaceutical business in the two countries.
In 2019, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $402.3 million, which is 32 percent more compared to 2018. At the same time, exports amounted to $26.6 million, imports to $375.7 million.
Issues of developing interregional cooperation in pharmaceutical production, exchange of experience and training qualified specialists for the field, export of products to European markets were discussed at the event. The issue of introducing modern technologies into the production process was considered in detail.
A number of leading Italian pharmaceutical companies made presentations.
Views were exchanged on further development of Uzbekistan – Italian trade and economic cooperation, expansion of partnership between pharmaceutical companies of the two countries.
