A meeting focused on export potential development and implementation of investment projects
On August 7 this year, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov headed a video-conference focused on the progress in measures to comprehensively support entrepreneurs and exporters of the Republic, to increase the export of domestic products considering the evolving situation in world markets, as well as to implement regional programs of social and economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region.
This meeting involved the heads of the relevant ministries and departments, industry associations, commercial banks, local authorities, commercial banks, as well as diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad.
The participants took a stoke of the results of work implemented in January-July this year to increase export, including the measures taken to replenish the working capital of exporting enterprises, return to them previously paid value added tax, as well as the effectiveness of the activities of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad in promoting export potential of the Republic, search for new customers for domestic products and assistance in export agreements.
The meeting emphasized that at the moment, the global practice already involves modern effective mechanisms for the production and trade of goods under the pandemic, which positively effect the restoration of the world economy and the intensification of international economic relations. Consequently, the participants noted the need in systematic work of the relevant structures and bodies to use all available reserves to increase export.
They highlighted the increasing demand for a number of commodity items in the markets of the CIS countries and neighboring countries, as well as the projected rise in prices for certain domestic products, which forms favorable conditions for a targeted increase in production and exports in the areas specified.
The participants paid a particular attention to intensification of work of the Republican Headquarters for Exporters Support focused on identification of the existing concerns of exporting enterprises, prompt measures to resolve them, determination of needs of entrepreneurs for additional credit resources or return of previously paid value added tax. At the same time, they pointed out the need for domestic enterprises to comply with payment discipline, and set a task to liquidate the existing overdue receivables under current export contracts as soon as possible.
As a matter of priority, the participants considered the progress in previous instructions on the implementation of regional investment programs in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region, i.e. they determined the projects behind the schedule; reviewed factors that impede the timely performance of work; provided instructions on prompt resolution of existing issues. They emphasized the importance of work on the timely connection of industrial facilities under construction to utilities, the unhindered issuance of permits by the relevant state authorities, as well as comprehensive assistance in the successful launch and operation of the created enterprises.
There was a srict analysis of measures to create Project Factories resulted in instructions given to the executive officers on the prompt completion of the construction of facilities and resolution of organizational issues.
The meeting resulted in assigning of specific tasks to the responsible heads of ministries and departments, and determination of deadlines and expected results. The General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan will monitor the timely and high-quality execution thereof.
